Anatomy for yoga & Pilates teachers
Understand the body, rethink movement, teach with confidence. Stop memorising muscles and start understanding movement: a practical look at functional anatomy, biomechanics and the relationship between structure and movement — always asking what it means for the way we teach.
We move, observe and experiment rather than sit behind slides — challenging a few familiar alignment rules and learning why there is no one perfect way to move. For yoga and Pilates teachers; no anatomy background required.
What we'll explore
- —Anatomy fundamentals without getting lost in terminology
- —How movement works: joint mechanics, muscle function, biomechanics
- —The spine & core: movement, stability, breathing
- —Hips, pelvis & lower body
- —Shoulders & upper body in weight-bearing movement
- —Fascia & force transmission
- —Individual anatomical differences — why alignment isn't one-size-fits-all
- —Anatomy in practice on familiar yoga poses and Pilates exercises

Part of the 300h25h (YA) · observation, cueing & hands-on assisting
Reading bodies
Before you can guide a body, you need to learn how to see it. A practical, hands-on training to sharpen your observation and translate what you see into clear, useful teaching — using the five Prana Vayus as a framework to look beyond the shape of a pose.
The goal isn't to become the teacher with a correction for everything, but the one who knows when to guide, how to guide and when to leave things alone.
What we'll explore
- —Learning to observe movement patterns and individual differences
- —The five Prana Vayus as a framework for movement, breath and energy
- —Cueing that makes sense, without overwhelming students
- —The art of knowing when to guide, adapt or simply observe
- —Hands-on assisting: touch, pressure, placement and consent
- —Adapting to different bodies and abilities
- —Learning by doing: practice and feedback in real teaching situations
- —Building confidence in your own eye
